This week our Staff Member of the Week was awarded to Mrs Glenda Fourie.
Glenda received two nominations:
“Glenda organises all exams for special provisions students. She works very hard and is so efficient. It's a tough job organising all those exams on top of everything else, but she does it without complaint. Glenda has communicated with many different teachers and parents."
“Glenda is a servant-hearted work colleague. In her role in enrichment, especially in dealing with assessments, she is always ready to be supportive of both students and teachers. She goes above and beyond to clarify, provide assistance, and make adjustments to ensure students get equal opportunities. Glenda is an example of someone who is calm and promotes peace wherever she goes. She tries to find solutions that work for everyone and demonstrates humility in her day to day. Despite having to deal with a range of personalities, teaching and learning styles, she seems to take these challenges in her stride.
Teacher Profile element: Godly in Character
GPCC has launched a fundraising project today that will run until Sunday 4 June to help raise funds towards a truck for Pastor Isaac and the team that conduct the Rivers Convention each Easter.
You can learn more about this project at the special webpage set up for this fundraising effort - http://Qr.survival.net.au/gpcc
The fundraiser is in partnership with Survival First Aid Kits, with Green Point Christian College receiving a 25% cash return towards our project for every purchase made through our unique portal - http://Qr.survival.net.au/gpcc
As the purchaser you will also receive a 10% discount off the recommended retail price by using the code GPCC.
Please note that this fundraiser can also be shared with family and friends who may want to purchase a first kit at this time, but they will also need to use the GPCC portal (http://Qr.survival.net.au/gpcc) rather than purchase direct through the Survival website. You will see the posters up around the College and in our newsletter over the coming month.
Thank you for your support, and we are looking forward to reaching our goal together and supporting Pastor Isaac and the team as they share the good news throughout the Central West.
First Nations Observances
During the second half of Term 2 each year, there are three significant events for all Australians: Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
These observances are not just for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; they are for everyone. Participating in First Nations Australian events allows us to start a conversation where we all can discuss our shared history, rich cultural experiences and find a way forward for a stronger more inclusive Australia. It is particularly important this year with the vote for ‘a voice to parliament’ later in the year.
See PDF below for upcoming events and obvervances.
AECG Meeting
The Tjudibaring AECG is meeting next week 17 May at Erina High School. All first nations families are invited to attend. Children are welcome. Please see the invitation below. Also be advised, GPCC is hosting the AECG meeting on Wednesday 14 June in the library.
