Central Coast Futsal Tournament

Years 3/4 Boys

On Monday the Junior Boy Futsal Team attended the NNSW Central Coast Futsal Regional Tournament at Niagara Park. The team played 3 Pool matches going through undefeated with some dominant displays against Wyong Christian School (5-1), Coast Christian (23-0) and Point Clare (6-0). I was so impressed with the level of skill the boys showed by weaving in and out of defenders, slick passing, solid defending and accurate shooting. These performances meant we finished on top of our Pool and would meet Gosford Public School in the semi. After Gosford opened the scoring we put the foot on the pedal, scoring next and eventually winning 8-1 setting up a meeting with Wyong (our first opponent) who managed to beat first place in Pool B for a spot in the Grand Final.

I was not surprised with the intent the boys showed from the outset scoring midway through the first half and then continuing with goal after goal after goal (7-1) and to be crowned winners of the day. The boys have now qualified for the next regional tournament to be played in Maitland next month.

Well done to the team for a wonderful day and excellent performances throughout. Congratulations Jad A, Luke P, Nash P, Tommy B, James C, Enzo RC and Max F.

Year 5/6 Boys

The 5/6 Boys entered the tournament with a boost of confidence off the back of a 4-1 win against St Phillips Gosford only last Friday. Right from the outset there was a real sense of determination as the boys fought out a close 3-2 win against Point Clare PS. This momentum carried us into our second game as the boys recorded a 10-0 victory against one of two Wyong Christian teams. They say when it rains, it pours, and this was certainly true as the boys continued their attacking prowess putting eight goals past the same St Phillips team, they beat on Friday in a comfortable 8-1 win. 1st in the pool and through to the Semi-finals, the boys faced Coast Christian School in what proved to be a coming of age for our defence. Coast’s skilful squad battled strong, however, with some crucial blocks and clinical finishing, Green Point were able to walk away 3-2 victors. This saw our seniors come up against the other team from Wyong Christian, who had breezed past opponents up until this point. Our boys proved to be their toughest challenge yet hanging in the game right until the final whistle. Ultimately, we were defeated 5-3 in a strong display from both sides. A fixture the boys are certainly eager to play again soon to reverse the score line.

Congratulations to Louis A, Jaxon H, Jacob G, Adam S, Hamish L, Alex L, Levi S, and Isaac S for your hard work and commendable sportsmanship throughout the day!

Senior Girls

Congratulations to the Senior girls who played amazingly at the NNSW Central Coast Futsal Regional Tournament. The girls had a great day, passing the ball around very well and creating a number of scoring opportunities. I was so impressed with the way they encouraged each other and worked as a team. They were undefeated in their pool and made the grand final. It was a battle, one where both teams gave 100% in everything. The game was so tense from the opening whistle to the final siren, but the girls showed their strength and won 2-1! T The girls have now qualified for the next regional tournament to be played in Maitland next month. Congratulations to the Senior Girls Futsal Team, Phoebe N, Sophie C, Zara L, Lily D, Alleah M, Riley D, Aurora H and Lara B.

Individual Sport Trials for Primary CSSA and CIS Teams

These trials are not for GPCC school teams that we trial here at school to play at certain gala days throughout the year (as mentioned above). The CSSA or CIS trials are usually held in Sydney and students will be trialling against students from either other Christian Schools (CSSA) or other Independent Schools (CIS) and are usually recommended for those students that compete at a representative level.

Please email Mr McSwan before these dates if your child (Years 5 and 6 only) would like to be considered. They need to be currently playing in the sport and have several years’ experience (preferably at a Representative level): Parents are required to transport students to and from these trials.

CSSA and CIS Sport trial dates TERM 2:

Wednesday 14 June - CIS Boys Rugby Union Trials (Year 5 and 6 only)                Nominations close 7 June
