Prime and Sugar Drinks
It has come to our attention that several students are coming to school with or having consumed high sugar energy or caffeine drinks eg Prime Hydration or Prime Energy, Gatorade, or similar products. These drinks are marketed to be attractive to students and collecting the bottles seem to be the latest craze. There is strong evidence that what students consume has a direct impact on their ability to focus, learn and participate in class as well as priming the brain to seek out more sweet sugary hits on a regular basis. These drinks are aimed at providing hydration for elite athletes or a caffeine hit. Please consider the following information below from Kids Spot.
Prime Hydration contains no caffeine, but it lists BCAA as a key ingredient. With no sugar, the blend can be likened to what is offered in a bottle of No Added Sugar Sports drink. Whilst such a product is not dangerous for children or teens, it is listed as not suitable for children or teens under the age of 15, likely due to the range of additives including amino acids.
Prime Energy drinks are not legally allowed to be sold in Australia thanks to strict energy drink regulations under Food Standards Australia New Zealand, which require energy drinks to contain no more than 32mg of caffeine per 100ml. The 200ml of caffeine found in 350ml Prime Energy cans is roughly double the Australian legal limit at 57mg of caffeine per 100ml.
School arrival 8:15am
At GPCC duty of care is very important. Teachers are on duty from 8:15am each morning and as a result no students should be in the playground before this time. If you need to drop your child at school before 8:15am please register them for Before School Care with CAMP AUSTRALIA.

Primary Girls Winter Uniform
Our new Winter Tunic is now available in the Uniform shop. As the uniform is phased in students are permitted to wear either the old check tunic or the striped tunic.
- Tunics are to be worn with a long or short sleeve white blouse with round collar and either white ankle socks or Black opaque tights. The Red Tab is to be worn with the Tunic ONLY
- Skort is to be worn with either the short or long sleeve blouse, (can be untucked) with either white ankle socks or Black opaque tights. No Red Tab is required.
The phase in of the new uniform will happen gradually over this year and next year with the expectation that all students are in the new tunic /skort in winter 2025. This means that the current year 5 and 6 students do not need to purchase the new uniform as they will be in Secondary when the change over period ceases.
