Head of Secondary
Mr Steve Lobsey | Head of Secondary
The focus is on improvement.
No one at GPCC is perfect and there is no expectation on anyone to be perfect. We all make mistakes and while sometimes this is through poor decision making, the hope is that we are able to move past our mistakes and learn from them.
When students make mistakes, it is important that we help them in the process of learning. Sometimes, consequences are put in place for students who do the wrong thing. Our intention is never to punish students for their actions. Rather, we want them to reflect on what happened and what they could do differently in the future. We want students to be equipped for life by helping them on their journey in how they treat others, show respect to the school and present themselves.
By making small improvements as they go, students will develop and grow into the people God has made them to be.

Years 9 and 10 Visual Arts Excursion to Brewarrina
Years 9 and 10 Visual Arts travelled to Brewarrina from Wednesday 31 May to Saturday 2 June. Students experienced the unique environment of the outback landscape and represented it in various artmaking activities. A highlight was joining the students from Brewarrina Christian School by the river in their Chapel service, followed by a shared artmaking activity. There was also a tour of the fish traps in town; the students learnt to weave with foraged fibres, created art in the dark around a bonfire and met the newest member of the Turner family, Oxley, the goat. It was a unique and highly valuable experience.

Year 10 Elective History Excursion
On Wednesday 7 June Year 10 Elective History class visited Henry Kendall Museum and Cottage as part of their History, Heritage and Archaeology unit. Touring the site, interviewing the curators and exploring the artefacts to gain an understanding of how history is constructed. The purpose of the visit was to investigate the process and challenges around conveying meaning in history and the value of local museums.
