Wakakiri – Thank you

Several of our parents have been cutting, gluing and sewing costumes for our performers. Thank you to those who have volunteered to assist in this manner. Our performers have been rehearsing each week and will be involved in a full day rehearsal next week. Please see the schedule for details. Information about how to purchase tickets that have been allocated to our school has been emailed to families.

Communication

It is often necessary for parents and carers to contact the College regarding issues such as early departures, absentees, sickness and lost property. This information is best handled by the College office, who can ensure that messages are read and responded to in a timely manner and passed on to the relevant parties. Teachers are more than happy to respond to emails regarding academic progression or social and emotional interactions and can be emailed using their email address.

Please note the following:

  • For absentees, please email absentees@gpcc.nsw.edu.au
  • For lost property, to report an issue with buses, to make an enquiry about an excursion details please email office@gpcc.nsw.edu.au or contact reception on 43631266.
  • For notification of early departure, or around medication or sickness please email office@gpcc.nsw.edu.au or phone reception on 43631266. For early departure please email or phone well in advance of student's departure if possible.

Parking

GPCC shares our site and parking facilities with three other entities – Little Coasties Kindergarten, Green Point Baptist Church and Yattalunga Valley Christian School. As a result it is important that when attending events, assemblies and visit the College that vehicles are parked so as not to block the access way for others and to allow for the smooth movement of traffic around the site. Please ensure you only park in the designated parking bays at all times as these are the safest places to alight and collect students.

Author in Residence

Next week our Primary students will participate in a writing workshop conducted by our visiting Author in Residence, Dr Cameron Stelzer. Dr Stelzer is the author of the Pie Rats series and novel The Forgotten Map. Information about how to order his books will be sent home following his visit. Thank you to Mrs van Wyk and the library staff for the ways you make reading fun and engaging.

Reconciliation Week

For Reconciliation Week, 2G read “Open your Heart to Country” by Jasmine Seymour. We discussed what Country means and why it is important. In response, students wrote a paragraph describing a place that is special to them.

We learnt that ‘warami mittigar’ is Darug language for ‘hello friend’ and we decorated ‘reconciliation hands’ with dot painting.
