THACCCSA Oztag Gala Day
On Thursday 7 September we had 3 teams compete at the THACCCSA Oztag Gala Day with all the teams performing extremely well. I’d like to thank Mrs Sirone, Mr Brown and Mrs Stretton for coaching the teams and to the boys and girls for doing such an amazing job.
Senior Girls
Last Thursday the Year 5/6 girls Oztag team went to West Gosford to play in the THACCCSA Primary Oztag gala day. After a fantastic performance and much improvement in their teamwork from the gala day the week before the girls were ready for another huge day.
In the pool games the girls came away with strong wins against Hunter CS, Wyong CS and Coast CS which saw them progress into the finals. The girls played against Charlton CS in the Semi's and won convincingly. This led to our final (and hardest) game of the day, the grand final against Belmont CS. We were lucky enough to have had Zara L and Lily D join us for the beginning of what would be a huge day for them, however with the girls leaving for Wakakirri, we entered the finals with only one substitute player.
The final game saw a wonderful, hard-fought battle between the 2 teams. Each try was met with a counter try from the opposition and this eventually led us into golden point- extra time. With only 5 players on the field allowed, the girls played in an intense and exhausting last 10 minutes. Some fantastic passing saw the ball reach Lara F on the wing, who ran down the sideline and almost scored. However, the celebrations continued as shortly after the same tactics and passage of play saw Mia D sprint down the sideline to score.
I am extremely proud of the girls and the effort they put into the day. Their commitment to training was evident as they worked together as a team and showed great sportsman ship throughout the day. Thank you again to the parents and especially to Mr McSwan who organised the gala day!
Congratulations to the 5/6 girls Oztag champions: Zara L, Lanayah H, Lara F, Mia D, Khloe M, Kaelah B, Chelsea S, Penny L, Sibella M, Lily D, Evelyn D.
Mrs Sirone
Senior Boys
Our boys' Stage 3 Oztag team delivered an outstanding performance on Thursday. They demonstrated remarkable improvement since our last gala day, propelling us into the finals. While we put up a strong fight, we were ultimately defeated by a formidable opponent. I'd like to commend our boys for their exceptional sportsmanship, unwavering positivity, and their kindness towards referees and opposing teams.
Mr Brown
Stage 2 Mixed
The mixed stage 2 team played some phenomenal oztag today. I was so impressed by their stamina and determination to play their best.
We displayed some excellent dodging, super sprints and outstanding tags. Winning 3 out of 4 games sent us into the semis. Unfortunately, we went down 3-1 and so narrowly missed out on the final. We had a great day both on and off the field.
Well done to Tommy B, Michael HY, Jake B, James C, Enzo RC, Ryan Y, Zoey N, Chloe L, Josie R, Samara W, Grace G and Maddy G.
Mrs Stretton

CSSA Primary State Biathlon Splash and Dash
On Thursday 26 October, CSSA will be running a Primary Biathlon Teams Event at the International Regatta Centre Penrith. Participants are to either swim for 150m (Years 3 and 4), 200m (Years 5 and 6) or run 2km (Year 3-6). Students in Years 5 and 6 may decide to compete in the individual event too.
It is recommended that students are either very strong swimmers and/or runners to be able to participate. The swim will be held in open water which is different to swimming in a pool. Please consider this before putting your child’s name forward.
Mr McSwan will be putting the final teams/pairs together (a swimmer and a runner) and will let the students know once this is finalised.
Parents will be required to organise transport for their child to and from the event.
If you would like to be considered for one of the teams then please contact Mr McSwan via email smcswan@gpcc.nsw.edu.au places are limited.
CSSA (Christian Schools Sports Association) Child Protection training
CSSA have recommended that all adults (teachers, volunteers, parents) complete the following module on Child Protection before attending any CSSA event (trials, gala days or carnivals). Thank you.

Congratulations to Alexandra H who competed at Swimming NSW Junior State Age Short Course Championships last weekend.
She managed three Top 10 placings in 3 of her individual events.
NSW Rugby Union Championships
Last weekend the Central Coast Junior Rugby Union (CCJRU) under 13s representative team travelled to Yamba to compete in the NSW Rugby Union Country Championship Tournament. GPCC Year 7 students Isaac J and Jacob L, who both play for the Avoca Sharks, were part of the representative team who fought hard against teams from all over NSW. Their team ended up placing 4th in the State. Both boys made significant contributions to the success of the team and should be very proud of their efforts. Well done Isaac and Jacob.
