Head of Secondary

Mr Steve Lobsey | Head of Secondary

Half time at a sporting event is a time for a team to come together and re-evaluate what they are doing. What has been working well? What unexpected challenges have arisen? What adjustments need to be made for the second half?

It is half time in our school year and a great opportunity for students to do the same. I encourage families to talk about the successes and challenges of the first semester and come up with plans for improvement.

Some common areas to consider are:
  • A more structured study, revision and homework routine
  • A planner with upcoming assessments on it so work does not become last minute
  • Rules over the use of social media, phones, computer games and other technology
  • Time set aside for improving physical health
  • Coming up with strategies to improve sleep
I pray that the coming weeks will be blessed for all of our families and that students come back ready for their best term yet.

Years 10 and 11 Drama Play - Hamlet
In Week 10 our very talented Year 10 and 11 drama students will bring Shakespeare’s Hamlet to life, under the direction and creative vision of Mrs Wilson. This hours rendition of Shakespeare's most philosophical play tells the story of Prince Hamlet’s indecision, downfall and demise. Watch as the ghost of the King of Denmark (Mr Samild) tells his son Hamlet (Luke J) to avenge his death by killing the new king, Hamlet’s uncle and stepfather (Dominic H). His uncle, fearing for his life, also devises plots to kill Hamlet. Follow Hamlet as he pines for Ophelia (Bella T), fights to avenge his father, and seeks justice in a duel with the cunning Laertes (Jemima W). Prepare to be enthralled by a performance that has captivated audiences for centuries and will leave you reflecting on life’s mistakes and misfortunes long after the curtain falls.

Performance Dates:

Wednesday 3 July - 7:00pm

Thursday 4 July - 7:00pm

Friday 5 July - Matinee 12:40pm

Venue: CAPA5 Theatre

Cost: $5.00 per ticket at the door (cash and card available).

All proceeds go towards air conditioning in the Bali Life Foundation Schools.

Year 9 Visit to Tarragal Glen

Mrs Menzies Year 9 Equip class recently visited the residents at The Manor Tarragal Glen. Our students enjoyed their conversations and taking part in an art activity with the residents.

We received this beautiful thank you message from one of their staff members:

"I just want to take the time to thank you and your students once again for visiting The Manor on Monday for morning tea.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the watercolour activity and conversations with your wonderful year 9 students.

All the residents were touched by the visit, had positive feedback and all commented on how well the girls interacted. It really did brighten their day.

We would love to have you back again soon."

Well done to our Year 9 students for serving in our local community and thank you to Mrs Menzies for organising this wonderful opportunity for both our students and the residents of Tarragal Glen.
