Remembering Warren Goodsell - a Green Point Christian College Pioneer

This week I am pausing the last part of the series I have been doing to remember the memory of Warren Goodsell. Warren passed last Monday after a long battle with cancer and his funeral and celebration of life was on Wednesday.

Most of our community do not know, and have not had the pleasure of meeting Warren Goodsell. However, without him and our other pioneers, Green Point Christian College would not exist.

In the late 1970’s Warren was the founding chairman of a committee of interested Green Point Baptist Church members to explore the opening of a Christian school.

The meetings were held in Warren’s home around the dinner table well before the school opened. Such was his commitment to seeing a Christian school on the Central Coast, that he took a second mortgage on the family home to fund the start-up of the college.  He, and our other pioneers took this step of faith and sacrificed their time, talents and finances to start the school and to ensure it flourished during those challenging early years.

Warren did these things out of the wellspring of his faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to see young people on the Central Coast grow up into Christ through the provision of a Christian school.

Green Point Christian College is now a very different and much larger place than the one that existed when Warren was Chairman. However, we do share the same commitment to Jesus and the same desire to see our students come to know Christ and serve Him through lives of redemptive action.

We thank God for Warren, his family and our other pioneers for their commitment and sacrifice to the cause of Christian education, and we pray that God will continue to raise up people here at Green Point Christian College with that same kind of spirit to continue to faithfully develop the school for generations to come.

Head of Primary Announcment

Over the past month or so we have been undertaking our recruitment process for the Head of Primary position.

We engaged EnrichedHR, a recruitment firm, to support us in this process to ensure we reached a good range of applicants and conducted a smooth, and equitable process.

We had a large pool of quality applicants, and a very strong shortlist. 

After much prayer and consideration by the panel I am pleased to announce that the successful applicant is Mrs Amanda Rutlidge.

We look forward to the ongoing contribution Amanda will make to the College through her leadership.

Principal Advisory Group

The Principal Advisory Group continue to meet each term to discuss different aspects of College life and to provide support and input to leadership.

If you have things that you would like the group to discuss we have recently launched a fillable form on the website. This form is to raise areas of improvement and longer-term strategic considerations.
