Head of Secondary
I love watching videos of 'athletes who celebrate too early' and showed an example of one these in assembly this week. Thinking he has won the race, an athlete salutes the crowd and slows his pace to savour his victory, unaware of a fast-finishing competitor. At the last moment, when it is too late, he realises he is being passed and cannot believe what was going to be a highlight of his life is going to be a moment of great regret.

It is important to finish well. This is the time of year where students can slow their pace and lose focus on doing their best; and I don't want anyone doing something they regret. Even though the year is ending, I encourage students to work hard through to the end of the year so they can enjoy their holidays, celebrating a successful end of the year.
