Hats at School – after Father's Day

As the weather begins to warm up the UV will also begin to increase, and it is important for our students to begin wear their hats at recess and lunchtime. Please take time with your children to find and label their sun hats ready for the launch of hats again for Spring/Summer.  The Australian Cancer Council recommends that when the UV is above three we should use sun protection.  Please assist us in keeping our students safe and remind them of the importance of protecting our skin.

Congratulations to the following students who achieved the Head of School Award for Week 6:

Car Park

At GPCC, safety is always a priority. One of the main risk factors at our College is the amount of cars and students at pick up in the afternoons.  For this reason, we have begun a road safety campaign.  We are asking parents to support us in demonstrating good duty of care by following our car park and pick up guidelines.

  • Primary students should not walk across the car park without an accompanying adult.
  • Primary students should only be picked up from the Kiss and Drop or the bottom of the hill and are not allowed to walk to Beaties Road or 7/11 to meet parents/carers.
  • Students waiting in Kiss and Drop need to be seated and observantly waiting to be picked up.
  • Students must follow the direction or teachers and grounds staff in relation to crossings and movement in the pick up areas.

Fruit & Veg Month 2020

Fruit & Veg.png

The Primary School will be participating in Fruit & Veg Month 2020. The theme for this year’s event is Planet Fruit & Veg!

We aim to take better care of ourselves and our planet, so we are inspiring our students to eat more fruit and vegetables, to choose local and in season produce and not to waste fresh food. This year’s Fruit & Veg Month is all about looking at fruit and vegetables through the lens of sustainability.

Fruit & Veg Month 2020 runs for the last four weeks of Term 3 – from Monday 31 August to Friday 25 September.

As part of Fruit & Veg Month, students will be involved in various classroom and school-based activities which encourage them to eat more fruit and vegetables. Every day each class is challenged to all have fruit and vegies for our Crunch‘n Sip time, or create a record for the widest range of fruit and vegetables eaten in one day.

If you require more information on what activities our school is doing for Fruit & Veg Month, please contact Mrs Munro, kmunro@gpcc.nsw.edu.au  or your child’s teacher.

Sports Carnivals

Over the next two weeks we will be holding our Athletics Carnivals for K-2 and 3-6 at school.

Unfortunately, we are unable to have parent/carer spectators due to COVID-19 restrictions, but I am sure the students will have an amazing day.

The K-2 Carnival is this Thursday 10 September and the Primary Carnival is on Wednesday 16 September.  Students in those grades will need to wear their sports uniform on those days, and more details will be emailed home to classes.
