What's new in 2020?
2019 was such an amazing year in Sport, with so many wonderful achievements by the students in our school.

We had students compete at the National Christian School Games; we had students reach NSW All School levels in cricket, tennis, athletics; we won numerous competitions in both Primary and Secondary, from the exciting Mariner's Cup victory to CSSA State Oz Tag.

2020 will be another exciting year and we cannot wait to see what is in store for our students at GPCC.

What will be some of the new things starting this year?

Rugby Union/League
We are aiming at having some Rugby Union and Rugby League teams for Primary and Secondary who will compete in local competitions in Terms 2 and 3.

Sport Awards Night 2020
In Term 4 we will be having a Sport Awards Night where we will acknowledge the amazing efforts of students in our school in their chosen sports. These awards will focus on:

  • those who have competed at a CIS or All Schools Carnival;
  • students who have excelled in their chosen sport;
  • school teams who have performed exceptionally well in local, zone and state competitions;
  • great sportsmanship on the sporting field between players;
  • the inaugural Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.

Students will be notified in Term 4 if they will be receiving an award. This night will be for both Primary and Secondary students.

Training Contract
It is the aim this year that students who are selected into a School Sport Team are to abide by a Training Contract, which clearly outlines the expectations of training, for example:

  • attend all school training sessions;
  • complete a number of self-guided training sessions outside of school (training ideas will be provided).

These will be discussed further by individual coaches.

Strength and Conditioning
Students selected into a school team will not only train at school on specific skills for their sport, but we are aiming at providing opportunities for these teams to attend some strength and conditioning sessions.

Please refer to your email sent 27 January 2020 for information on School Sports Teams, Individual Sport Trials, and Sport Dates for 2020.
