SCHOOL CARNIVALS
The Infants Athletics Carnival is on this Thursday 10 September. This will be held at school and include a number of fun and exciting events for our K-2 students to be involved in. The carnival will run from 9:30am – 12:30pm on the oval. Due to current COVID restrictions, parents are unable to attend.
The Primary Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday 16 September for Years 2-6 students, also held at school. As we are unable to go offsite to Mingara, we will hold the carnival on the oval in rotating age groups, competing in the following events:
-
-
- Discus
- Shot Put
- Long Jump
- High Jump
- Sprints
-
All results will be recorded for each event, with ribbons given to those that finish at the top of their group. There is a chance that if restrictions lift next term and we are able to hold a carnival offsite, then we may be able to hold a carnival for those who placed in the top five for their event. It would be called the “The Finals”.
Cross Country Carnivals for both Primary and Secondary are still on hold until next term.
HOUSE CUP
With our House Cup in full swing, there were again many competitions running throughout the week. Our Primary teams played Soccer, Basketball and International Handball while Secondary concentrated on Soccer. The games were very close, with some victories coming in the final seconds.
The winning teams from our Basketball competition last week took each other on in the Final. This was between the Years 7/8 Boys Eagles and the Years 9/10 Boys Hurricanes.
Years 7/8 Eagles started extremely strong, taking an early lead 8-2 and then expanding that to 10 in front. Hurricanes were not finished, coming back in the last five minutes to be only one point behind with less than a minute on the clock. The Years 7/8 Boys held on, winning the match in the dying seconds 24-23. It was a fantastic game, played at an exceptionally high level. Well done to all of the boys involved.
Here are the updated points table from this week’s competition:
