INFANTS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
It was a fantastic day last Thursday when we held the Infants Athletics Carnival. Though the weather looked ominous the day before, it was great on the day and was a very enjoyable carnival for all students, staff and helpers.
Watch the video highlights here.
We had a number of events running throughout the morning, with the classes rotating every 30 minutes to one of the following:
- Novelty event (hopper races, tug-o-war, jumping sack races)
- Relay races (egg and spoon, bucket and beans, leg ball carry)
- Basketball court (scooting, padded hockey, basketball shots)
- Sprints (quick sprint on the oval)
- Jumping Castles (2 x jumping castles to choose from)
There was definitely a great atmosphere and all the Infants children had a lovely time. The smiles came freely with so many fun and exciting activities to participate in.
Thank you to Mrs Boyd for organising such a wonderful carnival. Also, a big thank you to the staff and to our amazing Year 6 helpers (House Captains and Prefects) for running all the activities.
PRIMARY ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
A reminder that our Primary Athletics Carnival will be held this Wednesday 16 September for Years 3-6 students (not Year 2 students this year as previously mentioned). It will be held on the school oval, with each Stage competing at a specific time:
- Years 3-4 classes: 9:30am – 12:00pm
- Years 5-6 classes: 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Each grade will be placed into the following groups and then rotate around the six events (Sprints, Discus, Shot Put, Long Jump, High Jump, Relays):
- Group 1: 9yrs Girls (Surname A-H)
- Group 2: 8yrs + 9yrs Girls (Surname I-Z)
- Group 3: 9yrs Boys (Surname A-H)
- Group 4: 8yrs + 9yrs Boys (Surname I-Z)
- Group 5: 10yrs Girls
- Group 6: 10yrs Boys
- Group 7: 11yrs Girls (A-M)
- Group 8: 10yrs + 11yrs Girls (N-Z)
- Group 9: 11yrs Boys (A-M)
- Group 10: 10yrs + 11yrs Boys (N-Z)
- Group 11: 12yrs Girls
- Group 12: 12yrs Boys
Age Champions and the winning House will still be determined from the results on the day. There is a chance where the top five from each event may be able to compete at Mingara in Term 4 in our “Athletics Finals”. As we cannot have a Zone or State competition, this might be a nice alternative and a chance for students to better their previous result.
