HOUSE CUP
The big Term 3 sport competition in our Primary and Secondary school, the House Cup, wrapped up at the end of last term, with the final round deciding who would win the overall competition.
Years 3 and 4 Division
In the Years 3 and 4 Division, it came down to the final game, with the Bulldogs hoping to hold onto the first place and beat the Hawks, who were close behind. It was another close game, with the Bulldogs jumping to an early lead and holding onto this position, winning 3-0 in the end.
Therefore, the overall champion team in the Years 3 and 4 Division is the BULLDOGS.
The Sharks, who coming into the final week were just in the top 3, had a strong final match against the Falcons, slotting in a goal in the dying seconds to win 2-1 and leapfrog the Hawks to take 2nd place.
The final top 3 placings for the Years 3 and 4 Division were:
- Bulldogs 22pts
- Sharks 19pts
- Hawks 18pts
Years 5 and 6 Division
Coming into the final match in the Years 5 and 6 Division, the Bears were holding onto first place but only by 2 points. They were hoping for a strong performance in their last game to cement their position at the top of the table and to win the overall competition.
A number of teams, such as the Cobras, Foxes and Giants, were close behind and hoping to snatch victory in their final appearance.
The final games were again very competitive, with all teams putting in a big effort. Soccer was tight, with teams slotting in some fantastic goals throughout each game. Basketball was fast and with superb teamwork, provided many scoring chances for attacking teams.
In the end, the Bears won their final matches, earning six important points and to take out the Year 5 and 6 Division. The Dragons made up a lot of ground, winning their final game and jumping into 2nd place.
The final top 3 placings for the Years 5 and 6 Division were:
- Bears 20pts
- Dragons 8pts
- Cobras/Foxes/Dodgers 15pts
Years 7 -10 Division
Netball was the sport of choice, with the Warriors/Hurricanes combining to take on the Eagles/Breakers.
The Warriors/Hurricanes team took an early lead but the Eagles/Breakers fought back, levelling the scores at 12-12. With less than five minutes to go, it was going to be a tight match to the final siren.
The scores remained close, with the W/H edging ahead by a goal. The E/B team were not done, and with less than 30 seconds on the clock, were close to equalising but the defence was too strong.
The Warriors/Hurricanes ended up winning the game 15-14.
The Years 7/8 Team took on the Year 9/10’s in another close game of Netball, with the older stage winning by just one point.
Here are the updated points table from the week's competition:
