CSSA STATE PRIMARY CRICKET
Our Primary Senior Boys Cricket team competed in the first round of the CSSA State Primary Cricket Competition. They played two games at Singleton against Carinya and Belmont Christian Schools.
It was a very warm day to play cricket but the boys, who were very enthusiastic, had a wonderful day in the field and batting on the pitch.
In the first game against Carinya, our boys were sent in to bat and made a solid 54 runs off 15 overs. Sam V top scored with 13no, supported well by Jacob on 10no.
Carinya went in to bat and Green Point put the pressure on early, with accurate bowling and solid fielding. They continued to bowl a good line and length, taking a couple of wickets but unfortunately his was not enough to stop Carinya reaching the score. Charlie had strong stats in bowling, with 1/7 off 3 overs, again supported well by his opening partner Jacob, who was 1/9 off his 3.
Our boys needed to win their second match to give themselves a chance of progressing through to the next round, so they came out swinging (literally) in the second game against Belmont.
We were sent in to bat and had an exceptional opening partnership between Charlie and Kyne of 50 runs. Charlie finishing with an unbeaten 30 runs, retiring to give the next batter their chance. Kyne was given out LBW for 16 runs but the damage had already been done, with our boys cruising to an excellent total of 80 runs.
Defending this total would all come down to the bowlers. They needed to bowl a straight line and pitch the ball up to have a chance of stopping Belmont from reaching the required amount.
Again, our bowlers were amazing, pitching the ball perfectly, making it difficult for the batters to play scoring shots. After 2 quick dismissals, Belmont were in trouble at 2/1, and with an amazing catch by Mitch at Mid Off, the score became 3/8. Belmont put up a last minute fight but our boys held on, limiting them to only 64 runs. It was a dominant performance and one of which the boys were very proud. Sam had the superb figures of 2/7 off 3 overs, strongly supported by Charlie with 1/1 (off 3 overs), Fidel 1/3 (off 2 overs) and Jacob 1/1 (off 2 overs).
It is interesting to note how superb our bowling was. This is such a credit to not only the bowlers and their efforts to bowl good line and length, but also hats off to our wicket keepers (Jacob and Kyne) who dove for everything, trying to stop anything coming their way. In each of the games, here is a quick run-down on the Sundries:

Congratulations to our boys for a fantastic effort in both games and for representing your school so well. The team were expertly led by their captain, Charlie. Every game, he was instructing the boys where to field, giving encouraging words, and always giving the game a positive vibe. Great work!
