Mr Peter McLellan | Head of Secondary

Year 10 finish up this week with their Dinner Dance. A few are heading in different pathways that will lead them away from GPCC. We wish them the utmost best and will miss them.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

The coming holidays are an important time for Year 10 students who have chosen to continue to complete their HSC studies at GPCC.

It needs to be a time of refreshment but also setting new goals and aspiration for their studies. It is a time to work out study routines and areas to work on before they start their HSC studies.

Thank you to all staff, especially Mr Newell for co-ordinating and navigating safe end of year activities with extra restrictions placed due to the pandemic.

Year 10 Peer Support

Year 10 students have undertaken Peer Support Training for a service role in the College next year, helping our Year 7 students to settle into Secondary School life.

It was fantastic to see their enthusiam and positive attitude. This is a very inportant leadership role in the College.

Year 10 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Hike

On Monday and Tuesday last week, the girls from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award team embarked on their qualifying hike.

This hike which followed sections of the Great North Walk through the Berowra Valley National Park is one of the final elements in the completion of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award.

The girls who were assessed on their bush navigation, camp craft and teamwork, all did an amazing job and are to be congratulated for their efforts.

Students who are interested in finding out more about the Duke of Edinburgh program are encouraged to speak to Mr Witanowski in the HSIE staffroom.

Year 10 End of Year Activities

Year 10 had a productive and fun filled week with a bush walk and BBQ lunch in Boudhi National Park, "Big Day In" run by MOTIV8 Sports, Avoca Beach Theatre and Peer Support Training.

This week they will spend valuable time in a Study Skills Seminar, Relationships Seminar and conclude with their Dinner Dance.

“It’s in the Bag”

Throughout November the College participated in “It’s in the Bag”, an initiative from Share the Dignity organisation. This initiative provides hygiene and toiletry essentials for women, Mums and Bubs and Teens in need in our community. The response has been overwhelming! The College will be donating 45 bags brimming with toiletries and little luxuries. Donations flooded in from individuals, families, churches, class groups, year groups and Devotions groups. Thank you to the Year 7 and Year 8 girls who helped sort through the bags and the Year 12 girls who made cards to go into each one. May God bless these bags and the women who receive them.
