From the Principal
Remember that our purpose as a school community is to equip students for a life of redemptive action through a holistic education grounded in a Biblical perspective. Our Christian faith drives what we do and was the basis of the founding of the school almost 40 years ago by members of Green Point Baptist Church. The Church remains committed to the school through company membership, prayer, and involvement in different activities.
Our mission is firstly to see students formed into people who reflect that they are made in the image of God and for His purpose. Our Graduate Profile captures the vital elements of what this looks like.
Godly in Character: through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, students can live a life of faith, being transformed by that relationship into the people God intended. Character qualities need to be grounded in something external to the person to make a difference and the Christian Scriptures set out what a Godly person looks like.
Collaborative: As we are designed for relationship, it is important that we help students develop this aspect of their person. Individuals and the group flourish when we work together.
Life-Long Learner: Learning is for life, so we need to equip students with the skills and the desire to keep learning long after they finish school. The created world is full of wonder and begs for exploration and understanding so there is no shortage of material for learning about the world, about ourselves and others.
Creative and Critical Thinker: Being rational as well as emotional beings, we are given responsibility by the Great Creator to develop our thinking capacity. Being made in the Creator’s image means we are naturally creative. These latent abilities need nurturing in growing children. Charged from the foundation of the world to be its caretakers, requires both critical thinking and creativity to undertake this responsibility well.
Socially Engaged: As we serve others, we are blessed ourselves and service to others is part of the redemptive action we need in a broken world. The Scripture says, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" and this is a truth we want to pass on to our students.
Our mission also involves you, the parents. As we seek to support you, we create a stronger environment in which our students can grow and flourish. The partnership we share together in equipping your children, can be a very effective one if we show respect and grace towards each other. Our work as a school also involves supporting our teachers to grow in their skill so that students might benefit. We are committed to seeing this happen through on-going professional learning for teachers and support staff.
May 2021 be a year of real progress as we work together for this common purpose.
