On a wet and windy day last Friday, a number of teams from our Primary and Secondary mountain bike enthusiasts travelled to Singleton to compete at the Singleton Team Mountain Bike Championships.
Our Primary teams went first and struggled through the tough conditions, not to mention a track that became harder to pedal every hour. They pushed through and did a fantastic job in their event.
Unfortunately, as the state of the track had worsened over the day and had become unsafe, the Secondary competition was cancelled. This was a shame for our six teams who were ready to compete but definitely was the right decision as safety is paramount.
There will be another opportunity to compete in the next mountain bike competition, which will be held in October. This is the Glenrock Mountain Bike Individual Championships.

CIS Primary Basketball Trials
Ben Johnson loves basketball and has been playing for a number of years. He was selected by CSSA to compete at the CIS Primary Basketball Trials last Friday.
These trials were against some of the most experienced Primary basketball players in NSW from private schools. There were over 50 boys competing for a spot in the CIS Team and this would be a challenge for any player.
Throughout the day the boys did a number of drills and skills and played numerous games. Selectors were closely watching each player, noting which students could be amongst those in the CIS team.
Ben really gave his all; he pushed himself hard and tried to be involved in the game as much as possible. He is a great team player and shooter, so he attempted to set up points for his team as well as to score some of his own.
At the end of the day, Ben missed out on selection in the CIS Team but he had enjoyed this experience of playing alongside other quality players.
Well done Ben for not only his selection to represent both GPCC and CSSA at these trials, but also for demonstrating a competitive drive and sportsmanship attitude on and off the court.
