CIS Secondary Swimming Championships
Congratulations to our amazing team of swimmers in Secondary who competed at the CIS Secondary Swimming Championships.
Backing up after our Athletics Carnival, a team of 18 athletes travelled to SOPAC to represent both our school and CSSA as this elite carnival. Making it to this level is an accomplishment in itself and we want to acknowledge the phenomenal talent we have at our school in swimming.
An update of their official results will be in next week’s newsletter.
Primary Athletics Carnival
It was a fine sunny day when we held the Primary Athletics Carnival. The students were very keen to be finally at Mingara, competing in an athletics competition.
There were so many wonderful results throughout the day. The students gave 100% in whatever event they partcicpated in and they did it with a smile. It was fantastic to see the commitment that our Primary students showed in competing in some of the challenging events. For example, seeing Year 2 students having a go at the 1500m. An impressive effort indeed!
Our official results and Age Champions from the carnival will be published in the newsletter in several weeks time. We will then present the Age Champions medals at Chapel once everything has been confirmed and checked.

GPCC Secondary Athletics Carnival
It was great to finally have our Secondary Athletics Carnival on such a clear and perfect day … much better than the original date, that’s for sure.
Starting off the carnival can sometimes be a bit slow with everyone trying to warm up and prepare themselves for the day, but our carnival started off the opposite, it started as a sprint.
Our first event was the 800m and in the first three races, three records were broken quite significantly. Raj S, Wade B and Mitch M started our carnival at a cracking pace. This trend continued with a number of records broken throughout the day. It truly was amazing to see many students perform so well and to set such high standards in these events. For example, Tom S setting a new High Jump record of 1.90m. That is absolutely superb, that height is taller than me! All of our record breakers and Age Champions will be confirmed and published in a future newsletter edition once everything has been finalised.
