From the Principal
Well, the day has finally arrived when all students may return to school. We are so looking forward to seeing them all. It has been wonderful to have our Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 students here and a good percentage of our Year 12 students have been in working with their teachers on final revision activities.
I need to remind you that although restrictions for the general public are opening up, schools are still under very tight requirements. There are many things we cannot do as you have seen from the Return to School Roadmap. This includes things like school sport and training, music tutors being on site, assemblies, chapel, school trips and camps etc.
It will be important that your child gets back into the school routine quickly and smoothly and we do expect that for some this will take a bit of adjustment. Be patient with them as they adjust back to a new morning routine.
Expect the drop off and pick up traffic to be pretty bad to begin with. All schools are going back so traffic generally will be heavy especially in the afternoon. As we are building a shade structure over the new Kiss and Drop 3 zone, you must all use the old main carpark Kiss and Drop area, and so it will be full and slow. Be mindful of members of the public who sometimes get upset at being held up by the Avoca Drive left lane getting blocked. Spread out your pick up time. We will ensure all children are supervised until the last one is collected.
The canteen will only be taking on-line lunch orders to begin with so some snacks for break time for Secondary students will be a good idea. We will try to open it up for break time on-line orders as soon as possible. The Uniform shop remains online and with click and collect only.
Thank you for completing the survey on returning to school. We have a small number of families who for varied reasons will be delaying the return of their children. As the survey was anonymous, if you are still in that category, would you please send an email to the relevant Head of School to let them know what is happening with your child. We will be providing some work and helping those students still at home to continue learning until they return for face-to-face instruction.
We appreciate your support of what we are doing to manage the back to school process and I look forward to seeing many of you again as we return to some semblance of normality.
