Secondary School News
Mrs Jane McLarty | Deputy Principal
Welcome back!
I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful it is to have our students back at school after months of empty classrooms and empty playgrounds. The lockdown happened rapidly and with little warning. Thankfully the return to school has been a little more gradual. It will be a time of transition for all of us as we re-establish known routines and get our heads around new ones. I had to laugh on Monday when a student said to me, “we don’t have a camera off function at school do we?”
Last Monday, our 2021/2022 Prefects have finally received their badges. This amazing group of young men and women are very keen to serve the school community and are waiting for restrictions to ease so that they can get to know the students they represent.
Unfortunately with current restrictions in place, many of the roles which our Prefects have had in the past are not possible now, so the group are thinking of new and innovative ways to interact and serve.

As we head into the last six weeks of term, I want to remind parents and students of a couple of things:
- Only Year 11/12 students can access the Little Coasties Coffee shop
- Only Year 11/12 students are permitted to visit the 7Eleven on Avoca Drive, this includes before and after school. Year 11 students will be monitoring this.
- All Secondary students must wear a mask indoors. Masks need to be supplied from home. Students who have an exemption need to see their Year Advisor with appropriate documentation.
- All Secondary students must wear a mask on Public Transport
- GROWVID - We have a Secondhand Uniform 'Shop' for students who have outgrown uniforms during lockdown. Please contact reception or Year Advisors if you need assistance with this.
Canteen Arrangements for Years 7-11
From Monday 1 November 2021 (Week 5), the Canteen will provide both recess and lunch orders for Secondary Students.
There will be no window service open to students.
The Canteen will accept both recess and lunch orders from students across the counter before school, and also electronically.
Orders can be placed online each morning prior to 8:30am.

All recess and lunch orders will be collected by Year group monitor/s for child’s Year group and delivered to the Year Advisor to issue to students in their designated area.
Whilst these current restrictions are in place and Year groups have been designated their own areas whilst at school, students are no longer permitted to collect their own orders and must follow these new protocols.
Urgent Need - Volunteers for HSC Exam Provisions
We are in need desperate need of volunteers to assist in providing our HSC students with provisions granted by NESA.
We are looking to provide students with readers and writers. This is a significant issue and will impact greatly on these students.
If you have any friends, family, church members etc that may be willing to give up some time in coming weeks, please reach out and ask. All training will be provided and we can work around their availability.
Please ask anyone willing to contact me at the College on 4363 1266 or email sbrown@gpcc.nsw.edu.au
HSC Exams 2021
