Secondary School News
Mrs Jane McLarty | Deputy Principal
Yesterday I was saddened to hear on the radio that the 'most watched' TV program for 2021 was the '11.00am COVID Update'.
What a year it has been! Homes went into lockdown, schools went online, school buses were empty, the HSC was postponed, Graduations were cancelled, Formals were uncertain and masked faces and QR codes became everyday necessities.
However, last week we were able to finally celebrate with our resilient, patient, kind, caring and Godly young men and women as they graduated from GPCC. Their rescheduled Formal thankfully went ahead, and 13 years of schooling ended. A long-awaited celebration!
Our Year 10 students trained as Peer Support Leaders for the incoming Year 7, 2022 cohort. The Dinner Dance is going to happen, and the world keeps spinning.
Throughout these unprecedented times the only thing that remained constant, dependable, and unchanging was our Heavenly Father. He was the same yesterday; He is the same today and He will remain the same tomorrow.
When everything around us still seems uncertain, I am so thankful that this one thing remains. I pray God’s richest blessings over everyone in our school community as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and may the hope that He brings sustain us all in 2022.

Year 12 2021
All Year 12 students have completed their HSC exams. Our students conducted themselves so well throughout the whole process, especially commendable given the extra challenges of completing exams in masks.
A big thank you to our Enrichment staff in their support of students with special provisions, and to Mrs Mary Austin (our Presiding Officer) who worked to run the exams with precision and in accordance with so many extra protocols.
We can thank God that we have had no COVID related interruptions or incidents and that He has protected the health and wellbeing of our students throughout.
Please continue to pray for our students as they navigate plans for their future.
Mrs Jillian McKay
Year 12 Graduation
Congratulations to our Year 12, 2021 graduates.
We celebrated this amazing group of young men and women graduating Year 12. Each of these students have brought so much life and talent to our College.
We congratulate them and celebrate their achievements. We will miss them, but they will always be a part of our GPCC community.
Please continue to pray for them as they leave GPCC and begin their journey.

Science Teachers' Association of NSW Award Winner - Nicholas W
Nicholas W is a 2021 Graduate from GPCC, a student that leaves our College equipped for the next phase of his life – Science and Engineering at University.
While at GPCC, Nick has studied Chemistry, Physics and Science Extension. His Major Work in Science Extension required him to conduct a research assignment of his choice. Nick chose to investigate ‘Methods of Mitigating Radio Frequency Interference Post Data Collection’. In the report Nick explored a new and innovative technique to remove static from the information received by the Radio Telescope at Parkes, managed by the CSIRO.
Nick’s work was entered into the Science Teachers' Association of NSW awards for independent research; he was awarded equal first place in the Working Scientifically category. A prestigious award for Nick, and the first for our College.
We wish for Nick God’s richest blessings for his future studies.

Year 10 End of Year Activities
This week Year 10 have had two days of Peer Support training as well as a 14km bush walk from Wagstaffe to Pretty Beach. On Thursday, a great day out was held at Crusader campsite at Lake Macquarie. Activities included rock climb, fishing, canoeing and sailing. On Friday the students participated in a relationship seminar followed by a movie afternoon. A great week for Year 10.

Year 10 participated in the Peer Support Leaders Training programme held on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The attendance was very high and students participated well in all the teacher-directed activities, resulting in 39 students putting their hands up to be leaders next year, which will be wonderful as they help to settle in the 140 Year 7 students.
In their role as Peer Leaders they will have the oppotunity to develop relationships, practise their leadership skills and work collaboratively toname some of the skills they have learnt.
