CSSA PRIMARY SWIMMING CARNIVAL

It was a wonderful day at the CSSA Primary Swimming Carnival. After our superb performance at Zone, we had a large team attend this carnival and they really made our school proud.

The results speak for themselves, showing the amazing swimming talent at our school:

  • Sophie C had a great day, with 2 wins in the 8yrs Girls 50m Breaststroke and Backstroke as well as an impressive 2nd place in the 50m Freestyle
  • Megan L was busy throughout the day, with her best result in the 12yrs Girls 50m Breaststroke, finishing 3rd
  • Felicity R, who dominated Zone in the 12yrs Girls age group, had yet another successful day, winning the 50m Butterfly and finishing 3rd in the Backstroke
  • Benjamin T won his 11yrs Boys 50m Backstroke event and also had a 3rd place in the Freestyle. A fabulous effort
  • The Senior Boys Freestyle Relay team (made up of Kyne, Crosby, Benji and Tom) had a superb swim, finishing 2nd overall and qualifying for CIS
  • The Senior Girls Freestyle Relay team (made up of Megan, Felicity, Bronte and Katie) also were sensational, coming in 3rd place and also qualifying for the CIS Swimming Championships

To top off a wonderful effort by our team, Sophie C was also crowned the 8yrs Girls Age Champion, with Benjamin placing 5th in the 11yrs Boys and Felicity coming 3rd in the 12yrs Girls. Amazing achievements by these swimmers.

The Hunter Zone team also finished a phenomenal 2nd place overall, which is a fantastic effort by our team to contribute their success to such a great result.

A number of our students have now qualified for the CIS Primary Swimming Championships, held on Thursday 26 March at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre.

CIS PRIMARY BOYS AFL TRIALS

AFL has been one of the sports on the Central Coast that has shown a great improvement in both popularity and involvement. A number of students over the years from GPCC have excelled at AFL and this year, we were able to send four talented students to the CIS Primary Boys AFL trials in Sydney.

Blake L, Aidan B, Oliver C and Mitchell R were looking forward to the challenge of competing at these trials.  The day started with a number of drills before moving into the games, where the selectors were watching closely to finalise their CIS team.

At the end of the day our boys missed out on selection into the team, but they will be back next year when they are in Year 6, ready for another shot. Well done, boys.

CSSA PRIMARY BOYS SOCCER TRIALS

Last Friday at the CSSA Soccer Trials, nine boys from GPCC attended.

We had the following champions represent our school at these trials: Levi M, Oliver C, Fidel S, Lane D, Zaid AG, Samuel N, Joel P, Jacob G and Aidan VE. Not only did they get to play soccer all day, train hard in a range of drills and game situations to test their skills and agility, but also had a wonderful time playing the sport they love.

The boys were all looking for a spot in the CSSA team which would then compete in the CIS Soccer Championships. Our boys, always loving a challenge of playing against elite players, brought their A-game and gave everything they had.

When the Possibles v Probables teams were announced, Sam was successful in this final test. Unfortunately he just missed out, but to get so close to the final cut was great.

Congratulations to all the boys for their efforts at these trials against over 70 talented and experienced players.

ZONE SECONDARY SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Our GPCC Swim Squad competed recently at the Zone Swimming Carnival at Mingara.

Our school has performed exceptionally well over the years at Zone Carnivals. Only a week ago at Zone Primary, we won the carnival (our 14th Zone title) by over 150 points, which was an impressive comeback considering they were not winning halfway through the day. It goes to show our never-give-up attitude. The Secondary have also had a great track record, winning the carnival many times and hoping that 2020 would be another successful year.

With the events progressing nicely throughout the day, it was evident that our school was too strong. We dominated, winning many events during the day and cementing our status as a tough school to beat at the representative level.

Our experience was evident when it came to the Relays, where we performed amazingly:

4 x 50m Medley

2019/2020 Oztag

The 2019/2020 Oztag season has come to a close and what an epic season it was. This year GPCC had 17 teams registered in the Kincumber competition with players from Kindergarten aged 5 up to students in Year 10.

This season brought with it too many tags, tries and smiles to count. GPCC players should be extremely proud of their efforts, both in skill on the field and their extraordinary display of sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Players represented our school in an excellent manner and referees and committee members from Central Coast Oztag, once again commented on what a pleasure it is to have our students playing with them.

We would like to thank the outstanding volunteer coaches and managers for their hard work running teams this season. The club is so grateful to have you help out.

Congratulations to all our teams on a magnificent season. Special mention must go to the U10 Tigers and the U10 Fireflies on Final ladder standings and to all our other teams who participated. Congratulations to Emily F who earned herself a place in the State Cup Team. Registration for next season will open on 1 July 2020.

Look out for details in The Messenger and on social media.
