GPCC Swimming Age Champions and Place Getters

Congratulations to the students below for an outstanding effort at our GPCC Swimming Carnival.

CSSA State Swimming Carnival

On Monday 7 March, GPCC were represented at the CSSA State Swimming Carnival by 11 strong swimmers. Every swimmer performed very well and can certainly be proud of their effort.

The competition was fierce and because of some great performances, we have had a few swimmers qualify for CIS level in addition to two relay teams who performed very well at our regional Zone carnival last month.

A special mention for Reef M who deservedly won the Under 11 Boys Age Champion on Monday. Well done Reef!

CSSA Soccer Trials/CIS AFL Trials

Last Friday in wet and soggy conditions we had five boys attend the Primary Boys Soccer Trials. Well done to all the boys who gained valuable experience and performed well. Congratulations Adam S, Levi S, Chase C, Jaxon H, George W and Luca W.

Henry S is also to be congratulated for a strong performance at the CIS AFL Trials.

Date Corrections

The following dates have been amended:

Thursday 24 March - CIS Primary Swimming Championships (Homebush)

Monday 4 April - NSW All Schools Swimming Championships Day One (select students)

Tuesday 5 April - NSW All Schools Swimming Championships Day Two (select students)

GPCC Sport Teams

Over the next few weeks students in Primary will be able to start signing up for trials for certain GPCC Sport Teams (weather permitting).

Announcements will be made at Assembly as to when this will take place.

Teams that students will be able to start signing up for are:

• Years 5/6 Boys Soccer 
• Years 3/4 Soccer team
• Years 5/6 Girls Soccer team
• Years 5/6 Girls Netball team
• Years 3/4 Girls Netball team

Secondary School Swimming Carnival Age Champions Error

It has been brought to my attention that there were some errors in the Age Champions from the school swimming carnival that was published in last week’s Messenger. The reason for this is that I had included the 200m events which are not age events in the calculations in the computer program. The Age Champions points have now been calculated to include only the age based events. I acknowledge that there will be some disappointed students as a result of my oversight and for this I am truly sorry.

Secondary Zone Swimming Carnival

Our Secondary swim team travelled to Zone on Tuesday 1 March.

After a tight battle Green Point took 1st place to retain the Zone swimming title for 2022. 

All our competitors performed fantastically, and we are very proud of their achievements.

We had many students place in the top three and in total we have 26 students progressing to CSSA for individual events.  

Our relay teams also took the pool by storm with all eight relay teams qualifying for CSSA. 

Girls 12-14yrs:  Freestyle: 1^st place;  Medley 1^st Place

Boys 12-14yrs: Freestyle: 1^st place; Medley 1^st Place

Girls 15-16yrs: Freestyle: 1^st place; Medley 1^st Place

Boys 15-16yrs: Freestyle: 2^nd Place; Medley 1^st Place

Congratulations to Eliana B (Year 12) who set two new records in the Girls 18-21 Age category:

50m Freestyle: 28.13 and 50m Backstroke: 31.41

We are excited to see how the students perform at CSSA on 29 March. 

For those students who qualified, a letter will be sent home shortly with the relevant details.

Sport Tryouts 

Junior Girls Netball Tryouts 

Junior Girls Netball Tryouts are in Week 8 on Monday 14 March and Tuesday 15 March in the MPC with Mrs Stewart. 

Senior Girls Basketball Tryouts are in Week 8 on Tuesday 15 March and Friday 18 March at lunchtime in the MPC with Mrs Beaman.
