Head of Primary

Mrs Nicole Smith | Head of Primary

End of a busy term

11 weeks is a long time and our students have demonstrated perseverance, tenacity, and collaboration as they worked and learned together. I would like to thank all of our families for the sense of community that I have witnessed as we supported those affected by both the pandemic and the floods, locally and in northern NSW. Our students learn much from their daily curriculum lessons but they learn much more for observing how we as adults respond in these situations. Thank you. Please ensure you take time to rest and regroup as a family and I pray for a safe and happy break.

Dates for your Diary

8 April – Last day Term 1

Wednesday 27 April – First Day Term 2

29 April –  K-6 Athletics Carnival (Mingara)

Absentees

With the recent spike in COVID positive cases, many families are finding they are now in isolation. Please refer back to Mr Nash’s communication around isolation periods and ensure the College is aware of the reasons for any absences in this regard. With Winter nearly upon us it is a good time to reinforce good hygiene habits of washing hands and sanitising as well as mask wearing if desired.

Vegetable Week and The Big Vegie Crunch

On Thursday 31 March at 10:00am our GPCC Primary students joined hundreds of schools across NSW to break the record for the most students crunching vegetables simultaneously.

Children kept running tallies of the vegetables eaten across classrooms and the winners of the vegetable munching competition for K-2, 3-4, 5-6 will be announced at Monday’s assembly. Winning classes will devour a delicious vegetable platter. Well done children. It was wonderful to hear so many new vegetables were tasted and that many children will be adding more servings of vegetables into their lunchboxes.

A great resource for parents is attached, with ways to boost your child’s vegetable intake.

Kindergarten 2023

We will be starting our interviews for Kindergarten 2023 shortly. If you or someone you know has a child ready to start school, why not bring them along to our Kindergarten Information Session. Details are on our website.
