Head of Secondary

Mr Peter McLellan | Head of Secondary

The old saying “bad character corrupts good character” is not necessarily true.  However, it is often true and unfortunately in our world where we are bombarded with values and morals that are ungodly, people of good character can be affected. We don’t want this College to be such a place. It should be a place where Godly values influence bad character and make it a better place in which to be. It needs to be a place where Godly Character is celebrated and emulated across the whole community. Let’s be a light that speaks hope and love into our community.

8:45am

This is a very important time in the life of a Secondary School student. Some may have forgotten why this is such a hugely important moment in the morning. In fact, our students should rejoice when they hear this time. Their eagerness should rise. A skip should return to their step. The joy of education begins because this time is when school starts. Bring on 8:45am … we can’t wait as our learning is about to begin.

Unfortunately, there are too many students arriving late and missing out on valuable learning time. Please encourage your student to be on time and ready for learning.

Uniform

Uniform has not been up to standard for some students. The length of many of the girls’ shorts and skirts are too short. If they no longer fit, the expectation is that new items will need to be purchased.

Only GPCC school jackets should be worn to school and a number of students are consistently turning up with other styles of clothing. It is important as the colder weather is coming, so please make sure that your student has a school jacket or blazer.

Uniform should also be neat and tidy and worn correctly, (not dishevelled).

Youth In Performing Arts (YIPA)

YIPA performances kicked off last night at Laycock Street Theatre with an incredibly talented group of Years 9 and 10 students from GPCC singing Toto’s ‘Africa’.  Breathtaking!  A special mention to the music teachers who helped the students prepare pieces to audition and then rehearse for the performances. Tickets are available for Friday (20 May) and Saturday (21 May),  where GPCC students will continue to showcase their musical talents.

Year 11's and Sam F will perform tonight and Year 12 on Saturday night. A feast of Creative talent in our own backyard
