GPCC Primary Cross Country Carnival

We were blessed with some beautiful, sunny weather for our twice re-scheduled Cross Country Carnival on Wednesday. The new course proved enough of a challenge with all keen competitors running either 2km or 3km around the College.

The endurance that an athlete must show when running cross country was well and truly on display with some competitive races and tight finishes. A huge congratulations to all the students that competed, and we can now look forward to the CSSA Carnival next Friday 27 May at the Sydney Equestrian Centre.

Age Champions (1st) and place getters (2nd, 3rd, 4th) for Cross Country will be presented at Chapel service later this term.

Thank you to all the staff and parent helpers that assisted on the day.

Primary Athletic Event Update

We are slowly making our way through the discus events that could not be run at the Athletics Carnival. I still need to have the 8/9 year discus and will then hopefully begin shot put. This is again reliant on good weather.

I hope to have all of this completed by the end of the term and will then be able to work out Age Champions, winning House and the squad for Zone which is scheduled for 1 August (Term 3). Thank you for your patience.

National Ninja Warrior Qualifiers

Last weekend Aurora H (5P), Micah H (3PH)  and Ivy H (KP) competed in NSW National Ninja Warrior qualifiers.

On Saturday, all three went to Boggabri to compete in the Australian Ninja Games (ANG) qualifier. Aurora finished 2nd in the girls 11 years, Micah came 1st in the boys 9 years and Ivy placed 1st in the girls 7 years. All three have qualified for ANG Nationals later in the year.

They were back in Sydney on Sunday where Aurora and Micah competed in the Ninja Challenge League (NCL) combined girls and boys competition. Aurora finished 4th in the pre-teens and Micah placed 7th in the mature kids. As it was a full field of kids, the top 10 qualify for Nationals. Micah and Aurora will be competing in Melbourne in September this year.

Congratulations Aurora, Michah and Ivy.
