Head of Primary

Nicole_Smith_2021.jpg

Mrs Nicole Smith | Head of Primary

What a wonderfully engaging Book Week we have all had. A HUGE thank you to Mrs van Wyk and Mrs Hurst , together with all the Library staff for the competitions, Buddy Reading, Author visit from Kirrily Lowe, literacy activities and of course organising the Book Parade and Fair. We truly have made up for lost time and demonstrated with pomp and fanfare our love of literacy and learning together.

Here are some snaps of the past week and exciting activities we have participated in. Our Week 8 Messenger will feature all our Book Week activities.

Uniform News

As the weather begins to warm up our hats need to come out and be ready for school each day. Following Father’s Day ALL students will be expected to have a hat at school to be allowed to play outside. Please take time to ensure that your child has a hat at school each day and that it is labelled with their name.

Many children are coming to school without their hair tied up. Our uniform policy outlines that long hair ( below the collar) needs to be tied back. This not only assists us in looking tidy but also ensures hair is out of students faces as they read and learn.

Meetings with Parents

From time to time it is necessary to meet with your child’s teacher. Catching teachers at their classroom before school is not a helpful practice as teachers often have before and after school commitments or preparation to complete. Our teachers are always happy to make a time to meet with parents in person or talk over the phone when you have made an appointment.

Years 3 and 4 Visit Secondary Science

Our Years 3 and 4 students are learning about forces and energy. They had a Secondary school workshop experience with Mr Yule and his Year 9 helpers.

Jungle Book Tickets

Our tickets are now on sale through Trybooking at this link.

All tickets are $5. There is no reserved or set seating. Students attending GPCC Primary school do not need to purchase a ticket but all other people attending including Secondary students will need a ticket.

For families with students in lead roles please note that the Devine Vines cast will perform in their leads in the Friday Matinee at 1:30 pm and Creative Creatures cast will perform in their leads on Saturday twilight show at 6:30 pm.

All students are expected to perform at both shows. Parents and families are welcome to attend more than one show. Students will also be asked to pay a $5 fee for costumes. This will be paid through the Parent Lounge and can be paid as a family.
