Year 7 Remembering Mitch Brown

On Thursday an afternoon was organised to remember Mitch Brown. Our Year 7 students dressed in purple as it was Mitch's favourite colour. A BBQ lunch was organised for the students, as well as a fun afternoon of sporting activities. Mr Nash and Mrs McLarty led small groups on a walk to the College's Memorial Garden, as a time of reflection on the loss of one of their peers.
Mr Oppel and some Year 7 students - Jack J, Josh P, Billy H and Chase P painted a 'RIP Mitch' graffiti artwork.
Thanks to Mrs Rochford and Mr Chambers for organising, and to all our Year 7 students for remembering Mitch.

Year 12 Food Technology Excursion

This week Year 12 Food Technology visited the Research and Development Department at Sanitarium where they had a tour of the pilot plant and saw a number of the behind-the-scenes activities which occur prior to our foods making it to the supermarket shelves.  We met with the Research and Development Managers for a range of departments: Food, Packaging, Beverages and Laboratory. They learned how dynamic this industry is and the diversity of opportunities and career paths and participated in a Sensory and Analytical testing activity. Current issues facing the food industry, in general, were discussed particularly in the light of a range of recent national and international events. We are very thankful of the time afforded us by the staff of Sanitarium.
