Beach Safety Days

This week, students in Years 3-6 attended Surf Safety Days at Terrigal Beach. We were blessed with favourable weather for all four days and the students had a wonderful experience learning about surf safety, playing beach games and paddling in the water. I’d like to thank the teachers for supervising and for the students for excellent behaviour and respect shown throughout the day.

CSSA Year 5/6 Basketball Gala Day

Both our Senior Basketball teams competed at the CSSA (State) Gala Day in Penrith on Monday 14 November and did very well.

Senior Girls

Having won our Zone Gala Day, the Senior Girls were placed in a Pool with other strong teams winning all but one of their matches and gave up only 3 goals in those games. They eventually finished second in their group. The girls had fun, learnt new skills and were inspired to want to play basketball in the future. I’d like to thank Mr Andrew Vartan for doing such a great and committed job coaching/training the girls’ team over the last two terms.

Senior Boys

The Senior Boys Team had a great day at the State Basketball Tournament on Monday. We had a strong first game with a convincing win, not even giving up a point on defence. In the second game, we were down at half time, but the boys rallied hard with an excellent second half performance. Unfortunately, we came within two points and lost to the team that would go on to win our pool. In our third and fourth games, the boys demonstrated superior basketball skill and athleticism to finish off the day with big victories in our last two games.

We finished the day with three wins and one close loss. We placed second in our pool, which meant that we did not progress to the Semi-Final stage, but we were very competitive and came within three points of winning our pool.

I am so proud of the way our team played, they showed exemplary teamwork and respectful sportsmanship throughout the whole day.

The boys really enjoyed playing basketball together, everyone should be proud of what they contributed to the team.  Well done boys!

Gymnastics Achievement

Grace R from 5L qualified to attend the NSW Junior State Championships for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics on 30/10/22. Grace was selected to represent The Hunter Region and compete with the best regional teams from across the state. She took home a bronze medal and can be very proud of her effort. To even get to State Level is a huge achievement. Well done Grace!
