Mrs Jane McLarty  | Acting Head of Secondary

I cannot believe we have almost finished the 2022 school year; it has been a whirlwind! As I reflect on this year, we have much to be thankful for. We farewelled Mr McLellan and celebrated his 25 year contribution to the College; construction commenced on the roof over the basketball courts, giving us an all-weather outdoor teaching space. We opened a Memorial Garden to acknowledge the passing of staff and students that were part of our school community; we welcomed one of our largest Year 7 cohorts and farewelled our Year 12 students, many of whom have been at GPCC for their 13 years of schooling. And we finally celebrated the College’s 40th Anniversary, with numerous events for the school community.

In a school of our size, there is always lots happening, but it is important that we stop and give thanks for God’s bountiful provision. Please join us next Friday at 9:30am in the MPC for our Annual Thanksgiving Service, where we will celebrate the accomplishments of our students and staff and look back on 2022.

Year 10 Service Day

On Monday 21 November our Year 10  students serviced our school and local community. They cleaned the local waterways, assembled recreational equipment in Erina, spread joy at a local nursing home, served in our Primary school and YVCS, prepared music equipment to be donated to Brewarrina Christian School, assisted the Green team in maintaining the school oval, packed Christmas Hampers and ran a sausage sizzle raising over $600 for Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre.

Students participating in the 'Clean for Sure' activity collected 14 bags of litter and 980 kilos of litter were removed from South Kincumber foreshore and broadwater and taken to Woy Woy Tip for disposal.

Well done, Year 10.

Year 10 Human Wellbeing Expo

How can you make the world a better place for future generations?" Year 10 were challenged to create a product or service to help address a human wellbeing issue of their choice. The students researched, created and displayed their ideas at an Expo.  It was a great to see the students thoughtful and creative ideas aimed at making the world a better place. #activecitizenship #EquippedforLife

Guest Speaker visits Year 12

It was wonderful to have Nick McKay come and visit Year 12 on Wednesday 23 November. Nick is currently 'the voice' of Channel 7, and has worked extensively in the media industry. After having studied at NIDA, Nick has forged a career both in Australia and overseas doing movie trailers. He has done voiceovers for TV shows such as The Biggest Loser, MasterChef and SAS Australia. He also voiced a character in the movie 'Happy Feet'.

Nick shared his life’s journey and how God had opened doors for him to use his God given gifts as well as encouraging the students to do the same. Thank you for visiting Nick and inspiring our Year 12 students.

Year 7 MAF Incursion

In Biblical Studies this past week Year 7 students had the opportunity to hear from MAF and participate in an immersive VR experience. Kylie from MAF shared about the valuable work they do delivering practical and spiritual care to people in places of deepest human need in remote communities. To this end, every few minutes, a MAF plane takes off or lands somewhere in the world. They currently have around 120 aircraft and serve in more than 25 countries.
