Welcome and Welcome Back!
This week we have welcomed back all our students, new students in different Year groups and new Kindergarten and Year 7 students. I hope everyone had a wonderful break. We are all excited for a wonderful year of learning and growth in 2025.
If you are a new family, welcome to our community and we look forward to partnering with you.
The last week has been a rich and busy time of learning for all our staff as we have geared up for 2025. The staff have engaged in a range of professional learning experiences. One of the major areas of focus was the launch of the College Learning and Teaching Framework. This has been in development for the last few years, and it was wonderful to be able to launch it with staff. We will be providing our community with more information about this initiative in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out.
As we have welcomed new students this week, we have also welcomed a range of new staff to the College. Our new staff for 2025 are;
Andrew Brinton – Teacher (Primary - Year 6)
Ben Cartland – ICT Service Delivery Officer
Sam Farey – Teacher (Secondary Science)
Andrew Flegg – Teacher (Secondary HSIE)
Jess Gardiner – Teacher (Secondary Drama)
Emma Gough – Teacher (Secondary English)
Christina Hutchinson – Marketing Manager
Anwyn Jeannot – TAS Food Technology Assistant
Kellie Kesby - Teacher (Primary – Year 4)
Wayne Mayhew - Teacher (Primary – Year 6)

Jacob Peterson - Teacher (Secondary – Maths & TAS)
Holly Prater - Teacher (Secondary – PDHPE)
Ariane Starr - Teacher (Secondary – Science)
Mark Tipple - Teacher (Secondary - PDHPE)
We are thankful for God's provision of these new staff and we are excited about the contribution they will make to our community.
Over the next few weeks, we have several welcome and partnership opportunities for families. Can I encourage you to prioritise these events as they provide rich opportunities for communication and partnership. I look forward to many of you at these events.

Joel van Bentum
Principal
It is with great joy and anticipation that we embark on a new year at GPCC. Regardless of where your child is on their journey through high school, the start of a new year is a significant time of new books, bigger goals, and greater hopes.
The teachers were at school last week and are continuing to plan and provide a Christ-centred education that nurtures the academic, physical, spiritual, and emotional growth of our students. We do this in partnership with parents as we remain focused on equipping students for life.
At the end of last year, we were blessed to be able to interview outstanding candidates for positions we needed to fill and we welcome all of our new staff with thankfulness for what they will contribute to the college.
Mrs Amanda Rutlidge | Head of Primary
Welcome!
I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to our returning students and their families as well as new families who are joining our community this year. I pray that 2025 is a wonderful year of learning and growing in the knowledge of Jesus’ abounding love for us.
School is dynamic place of learning and developing for our students, and our teachers are always striving to provide the best opportunities possible for children to experience the world that God has created. Educating children is an exciting journey that we partner together with on for many years and we are thankful for the privilege of seeing what God’s plan is for each child as they grow into young adults.
However, that journey is often bumpy! There will be times when your children are unhappy, worried, having friendship issues, or difficulty controlling their emotions just to name a few of those bumps. Let me reassure you that this is ok! Our children need to experience these things to build resilience and confidence in who they are as a human being, and this is where we walk that journey together.
I look forward to seeing each of our students continue to grow into the person God created them to be.
A few start of the year reminders….
Uniform
- Please remember that boys need to wear the grey, red and white socks purchased from the uniform shop with their formal uniform. White socks are for sport days only.
- The only outer garment to be worn with the formal uniform is the soft shell jacket. Either the sports jacket or soft shell jacket may be worn with the sports uniform
- Please label all clothing, including shorts, skorts and shirts.
Kiss & Drop Zones
There are two Kiss and Drop Areas at school. Please be very cautious and vigilant in these areas to ensure the safety of our students. When dropping children off in the morning, make sure you can see your children have moved away from the vehicle before driving off.
Crunch & Sip
A small change to our day this year is renaming fruit break to ‘Crunch & Sip’. This is a government health initiative which you can read about here: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/heal/schools/Pages/crunch-and-sip.aspx
Student Of The Week Awards
Please note that this year GOLD Awards will be now presented each Friday morning at assembly unless otherwise communicated in the Pastoral Care Entry.

GPCC Sport Teams
We are looking forward to sending our teams to a number of Gala Days and competitions in Primary again this year.
Students will have a chance to trial for certain school teams over the coming terms and will need to keep a close eye on the notices, teacher announcements in class and listen out for Assembly announcements for when trials will be held.
The protocol for team selection is as follows: (new policy/code of conduct available soon)
- Teams have at least 2-3 trials before final selection.
- Unfortunately, it is simply not possible for all children who trial to be included in final teams. It is not uncommon for 40 students to trial for a team that only has 10 spots available.
- Once teams have been chose, they will aim to have at least one training session each week before a competition.
.
Important Information: HCZS Soccer and Netball Gala Day 2025 - TAMWORTH
Trials for the GPCC netball and soccer teams (Years 3-6) will take place later this term (times TBC). It is important to know that if your child decides to trial this year's HCZS (Zone) Netball and Soccer gala day will be held in Tamworth.
Due to the considerably long distance, any students selected to join these teams will be required to travel via private transport to or from the event. This plan was successful in 2023, the last time this event was held there.
Mr McSwan wanted to let you know this information prior to trials taking place and teams selected as it may affect participation in the trials should parents not be in a position to arrange transport for their child
HCZS Soccer and Netball Gala Day - Tuesday 10 June 2025
.
Individual Sport Trials for Primary CSSA and CIS Teams (NOT GPCC teams)
These trials are not for GPCC school teams that we trial for here at school (as mentioned above). The CSSA or CIS trials are usually held in Sydney and students will be trialling against students from either other Christian Schools (CSSA) or other Independent Schools (CIS) and are usually recommended for those students that compete at a representative level.
Please email Mr McSwan before these Nomination dates if your child (YEARS 5 AND 6 ONLY) would like to be considered. They need to be currently playing in the sport at a very high level and have several years' experience (preferably at a Representative level): Parents are required to transports students to and from these trials.
.
CSSA and CIS Sport trial dates: Please note these are not for GPCC school teams.

Congratulations to Scarlett S. (Year 11) who represented Australia in AFL during the summer holidays as part of a tour in Ireland. The team comprised players from across Australia, competing in five matches against various Gaelic Football Clubs under a blend of AFL and Gaelic rules.
Among the 36 players selected, Scarlett was named in the prestigious A side and maintained her place in both the A team and the starting lineup throughout the series. Her team secured victory in four of the five matches, and Scarlett distinguished herself as one of the top three leading goal scorers of the series—an exceptional achievement.

Without this notice, 10 weeks’ fees + GST will be charged for each student enrolment being withdrawn. This amount is a genuine pre-estimate by the College of the loss that it would suffer due to insufficient notice.
