Some months ago, I informed you of the plans to establish a network or group of schools under a common umbrella organisation, that would help to strengthen GPCC and support the flourishing of member schools. The GPCC Ltd Board has established the Melos Foundation (MF) and at a company members’ meeting before Easter, the members voted to join the Foundation as its initial school member. This means the current School Board, made up of people drawn from the company’s membership (enrolled members of Green Point Baptist Church) have resigned and handed over governance of the school to the Directors of the Melos Foundation.
Ensuring qualified and capable governance is vital to the on-going well-being of any school. The initiative for the MF came from the GPCC Ltd Board recognising the need for long term quality governance for the school and that the Church may struggle to provide that into the future. Releasing the governance to the MF Directors, means the Church can focus on supporting the school in other ways, such as through our Kids Hope project.
The current GPCC Ltd Chair, Dr Kevin Sproats, is the founding Chair of the Melos Foundation and Pastor Phil Blair of Green Point Baptist Church is also a Director. In 2020 the GPCC Ltd Board appointed Mr Craig Ayling, a past parent of GPCC to the Board and he is also a MF Director along with Mr David Bartlett who is a past parent of GPCC as well. The existing Board members of GPCC Ltd have become members of the Foundation as will the Directors of all joining schools.
Our proposed new school for autistic children (Yattalunga Valley Christian School), will be a member of the MF as will the school we plan to establish in Brewarrina. We are in process with another Christian school to join and in discussion with a number of others.
I have been appointed as the Executive Principal of the Melos Foundation with our school Business Manager, Mr Michael Lowbridge appointed as the Executive Business Manager. For GPCC, it means little change. Michael and I continue in our current roles although, as membership of the Foundation grows, we will be spending more time with other members. The Foundation will be funded by a fee for service system with its members so while GPCC will make its own contribution to operating costs, no GPCC funds will be expended on other schools. Each member school remains a separate entity with its own funding as a protection for each other should any one member get into financial difficulty.
Feel free to explore the Melos Foundation website : https://www.melosfoundation.com.au and contact me if you have any questions.

Respectfully our students listened to Mr Rochford read The Fallen and then together we recited the Ode and stood for the Last Post and a moment's silence. Take time this week to talk with your children about the important act of service these men, women and also animals gave for our country.

NAPLAN Online 2021 - Testing Window, Tuesday 11 May - Friday 14 May
NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy - important skills that each child needs to succeed in school and life. The NAPLAN tests are designed to help us ensure students are on track with their literacy and numeracy development. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in NAPLAN tests for reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
In May, our school will participate in NAPLAN Online. Students do not need to be computer experts to take the NAPLAN test online. Making sure students have computer skills is part of our school curriculum, and our teachers will ensure your child is familiar with the online format. All tests will be online except for Writing in Year 3.
To see the types of questions and interactive features of NAPLAN Online, visit the NAPLAN public demonstration site.
Please refer to Naplan_online_information_brochure_for_parents_and_carers for more information.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs Jane McLartyMr Peter McLellan | Head of Secondary

CSSA Primary Girls Netball Trials
We had four students who love to play netball represent our school at the CSSA Primary Girls Netball Trials. The girls from our school who travelled down to Sydney for these trials were Bronte M, Abbey S, Zoe G and Emily B.
These trials were extremely challenging, with over 40 talented and experienced netball players competing against one another for one of the coveted positions on the CSSA Team.
Our girls, playing in their chosen positions, were involved in a number of high quality games throughout the day. They gave everything, pushing themselves to run faster, pass quicker, defend stronger. They all were sensational in not just how they played the game, but how they represented the school. Thank you girls for your efforts, your achievements, your dedication and your utmost support of one another on the court.
At the end of the day, a CSSA team was chosen and we had not one, but two girls, make this team. Congratulations to Bronte and Emily for being the first girls in Primary to make this CSSA team for a number of years. We wish you all the best for the CIS Netball Championships in May.
