I want to begin this final Messenger for the year with a big thank you to my teachers and staff. We all thought 2020 was a challenging year, but never imagined the disruption and constant change of 2021.
Through all this, my people have worked hard to keep student learning happening online, to catch up once students could return and to cope with constantly changing regulations, including the challenge of wearing masks for Secondary teachers and policing that with students. In comparison with many other schools, I think we have done a fine job of ensuring that our students have been able to keep up with the planned curriculum and have not fallen behind.
A special thanks goes to our Year 12 teachers who supported students through two changes of date for the HSC and worked with them way beyond what a normal year would require. I know that our Year 12’s were well prepared and will have acquitted themselves well in the exams. It was wonderful to celebrate their graduation on Thursday and so exciting to see the big crowd of family members who turned out to support them.
I also want to thank you as members of our school community. You have stood by us through this period and co-operated with the regulations imposed on us. You accepted my request to maintain respect for each other in spite of very differing views on the whole COVID situation. I know from talking to colleagues in schools across the country, that not every school has experienced such unity or co-operation. This speaks well of our partnership.
We all hope and pray for a vastly different 2022 where we may be able to return to something approaching normal. Whatever happens in January, I know that this community will pull together, and we will move forward. It is important that we do not allow the restrictions to prevent us from continuing to develop programs and activities to benefit our students. Last week I tried to highlight some of those and in 2022 we look forward to developing the use of new resources and opportunities to grow them.
As we enter the Christmas period, I remind you of the importance of pausing to remember the birth of the Christ child. The Creator God came to earth in human form to meet with us, to demonstrate what it means to live in a fully human way and ultimately to die for us to bear the penalty of our brokenness. As we share gifts this Christmas, we do so in remembrance of the greatest gift to humankind - the gift of God’s Son.
A very blessed Christmas to you all. May this holiday season be an opportunity for refreshment and family in a particularly special way this year. If your child is not returning next year, thank you for being part of the GPCC community and I wish you all the very best for the future.
2021
This has been a very different year in education and in society in general. The amazing teaching staff of GPCC once again made the pivot to an extensive learning from home environment, and then back to in class learning without a hitch. We truly have amazing teachers.
Once again we reimagined curriculum to learn from home, created virtual excursions, and created daily family activities including bushwalking, backyard Olympics and board game nights. Students as young as five participated, like corporate employees, in daily video conference calls instead of classrooms, uploading their work at the end of each day. We supported each other, demonstrated love, patience and grace and we did not just survive, but thrived. That is the sign of strong community.
This week, we celebrate our students' achievements at our Thanksgiving and Graduation Services. I am thankful and so incredibly proud of the resilience, grit, determination, and tenacity demonstrated from both our staff and students across this year. My prayer is that you can rest over the break and reflect on God’s provision for you during this time. May you have a happy and safe Christmas.

Class Lists 2022
Over the past few weeks our teachers and Enrichment staff have been forming class lists for 2022. A lot of thought, consideration and intentional planning goes into placing your child in the best space for them to learn in the upcoming school year.
On Monday, our children will meet the other children in their class for 2022 and will spend time with their new class teacher getting to know them and discussing the year ahead. When your child comes home please take time to assist them in processing the feelings of new beginnings and the opportunities for new friendships that each new year brings.
Thanksgiving Services
Due to the requirement to keep cohorts of students separated, we will be having three, stage-based Thanksgiving Services. Under current restrictions, parents are not allowed to attend these Thanksgiving Services. Please understand this is entirely due to the need to remain compliant to the current restrictions and we will make every effort to photograph all prize recipients for future memory keeping.

Mrs Jane McLarty | Deputy Principal
Yesterday I was saddened to hear on the radio that the 'most watched' TV program for 2021 was the '11.00am COVID Update'.
What a year it has been! Homes went into lockdown, schools went online, school buses were empty, the HSC was postponed, Graduations were cancelled, Formals were uncertain and masked faces and QR codes became everyday necessities.
However, last week we were able to finally celebrate with our resilient, patient, kind, caring and Godly young men and women as they graduated from GPCC. Their rescheduled Formal thankfully went ahead, and 13 years of schooling ended. A long-awaited celebration!
Our Year 10 students trained as Peer Support Leaders for the incoming Year 7, 2022 cohort. The Dinner Dance is going to happen, and the world keeps spinning.
Throughout these unprecedented times the only thing that remained constant, dependable, and unchanging was our Heavenly Father. He was the same yesterday; He is the same today and He will remain the same tomorrow.
When everything around us still seems uncertain, I am so thankful that this one thing remains. I pray God’s richest blessings over everyone in our school community as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and may the hope that He brings sustain us all in 2022.

Year 12 2021
All Year 12 students have completed their HSC exams. Our students conducted themselves so well throughout the whole process, especially commendable given the extra challenges of completing exams in masks.
A big thank you to our Enrichment staff in their support of students with special provisions, and to Mrs Mary Austin (our Presiding Officer) who worked to run the exams with precision and in accordance with so many extra protocols.
We can thank God that we have had no COVID related interruptions or incidents and that He has protected the health and wellbeing of our students throughout.
Please continue to pray for our students as they navigate plans for their future.

Year 12 Graduation
Congratulations to our Year 12, 2021 graduates.
We celebrated this amazing group of young men and women graduating Year 12. Each of these students have brought so much life and talent to our College.
We congratulate them and celebrate their achievements. We will miss them, but they will always be a part of our GPCC community.
Please continue to pray for them as they leave GPCC and begin their journey.

Science Teachers' Association of NSW Award Winner - Nicholas W
Nicholas W is a 2021 Graduate from GPCC, a student that leaves our College equipped for the next phase of his life – Science and Engineering at University.
While at GPCC, Nick has studied Chemistry, Physics and Science Extension. His Major Work in Science Extension required him to conduct a research assignment of his choice. Nick chose to investigate ‘Methods of Mitigating Radio Frequency Interference Post Data Collection’. In the report Nick explored a new and innovative technique to remove static from the information received by the Radio Telescope at Parkes, managed by the CSIRO.
Nick’s work was entered into the Science Teachers' Association of NSW awards for independent research; he was awarded equal first place in the Working Scientifically category. A prestigious award for Nick, and the first for our College.
We wish for Nick God’s richest blessings for his future studies.

Year 10 End of Year Activities
This week Year 10 have had two days of Peer Support training as well as a 14km bush walk from Wagstaffe to Pretty Beach. On Thursday, a great day out was held at Crusader campsite at Lake Macquarie. Activities included rock climb, fishing, canoeing and sailing. On Friday the students participated in a relationship seminar followed by a movie afternoon. A great week for Year 10.

Year 10 participated in the Peer Support Leaders Training programme held on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The attendance was very high and students participated well in all the teacher-directed activities, resulting in 39 students putting their hands up to be leaders next year, which will be wonderful as they help to settle in the 140 Year 7 students.
In their role as Peer Leaders they will have the oppotunity to develop relationships, practise their leadership skills and work collaboratively toname some of the skills they have learnt.
Mr Nathan Lambert | K-12 Sport Co-ordinator
What a Wonderful Year
It has been yet another successful year of sport at Green Point Christian College in 2021.
Even though a number of large events were cancelled due to the pandemic, we were still able to be involved in a range of competitive activities throughout both Primary and Secondary.
We had fantastic results in our Swimming season, with a good number of students in both Primary and Secondary progressing from our school carnival to Zone, CSSA and even CIS. Well done to all of our swimmers for their fantastic efforts and results.
Cross Country was another competitive year, with superb performances at our School carnival and then awesome efforts at Zone. Those students who went to CSSA represented our school proudly, again producing fantastic results at such a high level. Again, we even had students make it to CIS which was phenomenal, not to mention Wade B who qualified for NSW All Schools (as well as the Triathlon).
The start of Term 2 was when we had our Athletic Carnivals. They were wonderful days and there were a number of school records broken throughout the day. Age Champions were discovered and the winning House determined. Unfortunately, our superb squad of athletes were unable to demonstrate their skills at Zone, as this carnival and those above it, were cancelled. We are looking forward to next year and what the students can accomplish during the athletics season.
We were able to attend a number of gala days. Our Primary teams were able to compete at Metro Cup, a successful day in Tamworth, as all of our teams progressed to the CSSA Finals. Secondary also had success in Tamworth, with their soccer teams performing exceptionally well. Secondary Girls basketball and Boys Futsal had wonderful tournaments, with our Senior Girls taking the trophy. Again, the next level of competitions was cancelled, meaning that next year is the year to shine in these sports.
Even with a limited number of events occurring in 2021, our teams still performed exceptionally well, flying our school colours proudly and performing to the best of their abilities.
Congratulations to all of our athletes who not only were able to represent our school and compete in a range of competitions, but also to those who qualified for the next level of events.

NSW Girls Waterpolo
A huge congratulations to Mia H (Year 9) for making the NSW Girls Waterpolo Team. This is a phenomenal achievement by Mia to qualify, after many years of dedication and training. We wish you all the best.
